JayZ Decoded Homework
JayZ’s advertisement campaign for his Autobiography ‘Decoded’ is one of the best examples of a globalised cross-media project. We can see this by the visual language and representation of the methods Bing and JayZ both use to show his book. One representation was Bing creating large copies of the book’s pages and placing them in areas that are linked to major parts of JayZ’s life and correlate to the context of the page as well, there was also a game created for people to look on social media websites for clues suggested by JayZ and his publicists and enter their answer on the Bing website to figure out the location of the next page so they could read it; this was to target people who are gamers or who use social media/computers quite frequently.
The target audience for these advertisements were mainly for the younger generation but also targeted those who aren’t very familiar with Jay-Z. The collaboration between Bing and Jay-Z was very influential as every form of advertisement caught the eyes of the general public and the target audience. This gave a great increase in the popularity in Bing and gave a huge increase in the money that Jay-Z would be earning.
